Opening for Beaumont ISD in April 2010, the Carrol A. “Butch” Thomas Stadium is a two-tier, 10,600 seat stadium. Sports Design Group worked with the stadium design and construction team to complete the synthetic turf playing surface for Fall of the 2010 football season. The field was built in highly expansive soils and had to handle the yearly threat of hurricanes rains. The stadium field consists of a stabilized base, perimeter trench drain system, underground drainage system and a mono-filament synthetic turf field installed over a rubberized elastic-layer.
Sports Design Group also was hired to renovate Historic Babe Zaharias Stadium. An existing cinder track was removed and a new full pour track, field events and perimeter amendments were installed.
