In the summer of 2014 Sports Design Group and DA Hogan and Associates were chosen to consult on the installation of a new synthetic turf field at Historic Notre Dame Stadium. The natural grass field was removed out of a very tight exit tunnel and a new synthetic turf drainage system was installed. A rubberized E-layer was installed over the new drainage system prior to the installation of the synthetic turf field surface. Porous concrete runways were installed behind the player benches under the synthetic turf to allow the large mobile camera platforms to drive back and forth without damaging the synthetic turf surface.
