Valley Ranch Training Facility

Sports Design Group was selected as the field consultant and construction management team for the design and renovation of the natural grass fields at the Dallas Cowboys Valley Ranch Training Facility. The project consists of two natural grass sand-based fields, new entertainment plaza and numerous perimeter upgrades. The goal of the design was to upgrade the existing facility with today’s technology and to be more client friendly.

Construction began in earnest following the tragic collapse of the indoor training bubble in the spring of 2009. The training bubble collapse damaged all three training fields, rendering them unusable. The fields had to be rebuilt and the natural grass grown in by August. This is when the team came back from summer training camp in San Antonio. Since Sports Design Group was already on board and had begun the preparations to replace the facility and our extensive knowledge of local materials and sod, we were able to bring in an experienced field builder to complete the construction and the grass grown in time for the team’s return to Dallas.

In 2016 a new Dallas Cowboys Training Facility will open in Frisco, Texas. The project will include a new synthetic turf indoor stadium field, 1.5 outdoor synthetic turf fields and a natural grass sand based field.
